Build Your WordPress Website Chatting With Your Favorite AI
Every GoWiz WordPress site is ready to connect to Claude or ChatGPT. Here's how to link your assistant and build out your whole site just by chatting.
Imagine describing your website in plain English, like “add a page about my catering service, put three photos on it, and write a friendly intro,” and watching it happen. No page builders to learn, no theme settings to hunt through, no code.
That’s what a GoWiz site with an AI plugin gives you. Every GoWiz WordPress site comes ready to connect to an AI assistant like Claude or ChatGPT, so you can design and fill out your site by having a conversation. Here’s how it works and how to get started.
What you’re getting
When GoWiz provisions your WordPress site, two things are already done for you:
- Your site is live on WordPress, on fast hosting, with your theme in place.
- An AI plugin is pre-installed and ready. This is the piece that lets an AI assistant safely read and edit your site.
You don’t install anything or touch any code. Your only job is to connect the AI you already use and start describing what you want.
Why chat instead of a page builder?
Traditional site editing means learning an interface: dragging blocks, adjusting spacing, finding the right menu. It works, but it has a learning curve, and it’s slow when you just want a small change.
Chatting flips that around. You say what you want in your own words, and the assistant does the work in WordPress:
- “Write an About page that explains we’re a family-run bakery since 2004.”
- “Add a contact section with our phone number and hours.”
- “Make the homepage headline shorter and punchier.”
- “Create a blog post announcing our new fall menu.”
The assistant makes the change, and you review it. If it’s not right, you say so and it adjusts, the same way you’d go back and forth with a helpful colleague.
What you’ll need
- Your GoWiz site (already provisioned, with the AI plugin installed).
- An account with an AI assistant that supports connectors: Claude or ChatGPT. The plugin also works with Cursor and other compatible clients.
- Five minutes to connect the two.
Step 1: Add the plugin to your assistant
Your assistant needs to know your site exists. This is a one-time setup.
- ChatGPT: add the plugin from your assistant’s app or connector directory.
- Claude: add the plugin as a connector, then sign in with your plugin account when prompted.
- Other clients (Cursor, etc.): add the plugin as a custom connector the same way.
If you’re not sure where connectors live in your assistant, GoWiz support can point you to the exact spot for your app.
Step 2: Connect your GoWiz site
Now link your specific site. In your assistant, type:
Connect my site at https://yoursite.ca
Your assistant replies with a secure authorization link. Open it, and while you’re logged into your WordPress site, click to approve. That’s it. Your assistant is now connected to your site.
Behind the scenes, this creates a secure, revocable credential. You never paste a password into the chat, and you can disconnect at any time from the plugin’s screen in your WordPress dashboard.
Step 3: Confirm it worked
Ask your assistant a simple read-only question to be sure the connection is live:
Read my site with the plugin and tell me the site name and address.
When it answers with your site’s name, you’re ready to build.
Step 4: Start building
Now the fun part. Describe what you want, one request at a time. A few examples to get going:
Set up your core pages
Create a Home, About, Services, and Contact page. Write a first draft of each based on the fact that we’re a landscaping company serving the South Shore.
Fill in content
On the Services page, add three sections: lawn care, garden design, and snow removal, each with a short paragraph.
Publish news
Write a blog post announcing that we now offer free estimates, in a warm, local tone.
Refine
Make the About page a bit shorter and add a line about our team being fully insured.
Work in small steps and review as you go. You’re always in control. Nothing publishes without you, and you can ask for changes as many times as you like.
A few tips for great results
- Be specific about facts. The assistant writes better content when you give it the real details: your years in business, your services, your city, your tone.
- One request at a time. Smaller asks are easier to review than one giant instruction.
- Review before you publish. Treat the assistant like a fast, capable helper whose work you still check.
- Keep a backup habit. Before big changes, it’s smart to have a recent backup, and GoWiz can set that up for you.
The tech, in plain terms
You may wonder what’s actually happening. The AI plugin is a bridge: it connects your WordPress site to your AI assistant using a secure, standard connection (called MCP). Your assistant sends requests like “create this page” or “update that text,” and the plugin carries them out inside WordPress, using a credential you approved and can revoke. Your content stays on your GoWiz hosting the whole time.
You don’t need to understand any of that to use it. But it’s worth knowing that the connection is permission-based and under your control.
Ready to try it?
If you already have a GoWiz site, the AI plugin is waiting in your dashboard, so connect your assistant and start chatting. If you don’t yet, GoWiz can provision a WordPress site with everything set up for you, so your first task is simply to describe the site you want.
